Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers 8.00 to 9.00 lower. Light to moderate demand for this nice offering of long time, hard fed, high quality grading steers and heifers. The CME Live Cattle contracts were locked down the limit throughout the sale, putting great pressure on the market at the auction. The boxed beef market continues to hold it's own, in the 377.00 area, but with the futures complex in meltdown mode again this week, packer buyers set their sights much lower. Weighing conditions ranged from fair to full and didn't seem to matter as the trading range was very narrow regardless of differences in weight or yield. 5 full loads of steers, 8 full loads of heifers, balance part loads and stock trailer loads.
Slaughter lambs steady to 2.00 lower. Slaughter ewes 5.00 to 15.00 higher. Good demand remains for slaughter lambs. Very good demand for slaughter ewes. A few sets of light fleshed feeder lambs were met with very good demand.
