Compared to last week: Slaughter steers 2.00 to 3.00 lower, heifers steady, Holstein steers 2.00 to 3.00 higher. Moderate demand for this large offering of slaughter steers heifers, very good demand for Holstein steers. Many full loads of very eye appealing, high quality grading steers and heifers of offer. The cattle were big however as most of the steers weighed over 1500 lbs. Estimated dressed cost for beef cattle ranged from 163.00-166.00, the Holsteins sold with a dressed cost equal to or higher than the beef steers and heifers this week. All packer buyers were participating and getting cattle bought, but it was at lower money. Two way buyers stepped in and bought cattle that looked like they could meet contract specs for delivery against the Oct Live Cattle contract, which helped move the bids along. Overall the market was not very active. Slaughter cows 2.00 to 5.00 lower, bulls 2.00 to 4.00 lower.
Slaughter lambs 5.00 higher. Feeder lambs not well tested for comparison, steady to higher undertones evident. Slaughter ewes mostly steady in a light comparison. Good demand for slaughter lambs, the market was very active. Moderate to good demand for feeder lambs. Very good demand remains for slaughter ewes.
