Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers steady to 1.00 higher, Holstein steers steady. Demand moderate to good, demand actually improved as the sale progressed as the CME Live Cattle contracts moved back up above their trading session lows. All packers were participating this week. Not as many cattle offered as in recent weeks, the quality grade of the cattle was very high as they were heavy and hard fed. 6 Full loads of steers, 8 full loads of heifers, balance small packages. Estimated dressed cost ranged from 160.00-165.00, weighing conditions were average to full. Slaughter cows steady to 2.00 higher, bulls 1.00 to 2.00 higher.

Slaughter lambs steady to firm. Feeder lambs not well compared as few lambs went to feed. Slaughter ewes 10.00 to 20.00 lower. Good demand for slaughter lambs, moderate demand for this lower quality offering of feeder lambs as there weren’t the long strings of lambs as there were in recent weeks. Moderate demand for slaughter ewes.
