Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers 1.00 to 2.00 lower, few instances of steady. Holstein steers 1.00 to 2.00 higher. Demand only moderate this week. The overall quality was very attractive as the cattle were hard fed, high quality grading, clean hided, in an average weighup but packers were not interested in chasing the market. Estimated dressed cost ranged from 168.00-172.00. Boxed beef values continue to rise, reaching 231.00 this morning but packers were determined to cheapen up. Slaughter cows steady to 3.00 lower, bulls 2.00 lower.

Slaughter lambs steady to 3.00 higher. Feeder lambs 5.00 lower. Slaughter ewes 10.00 to 20.00 higher, except the fat ewes, Good 4-5, were steady. Moderate to good demand for slaughter lambs. Good demand for another large offering of feeder lambs including a string of 550 light fleshed lambs. Good to very good demand for slaughter ewes.
