Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers steady to 4.00 lower. Holstein steers steady to firm. Moderate demand for this nice offering of steers and heifers. Weighing conditions ranged from full to a rather empty. Estimated dressed cost was wide, due to the difference in dressing percents, 165.00-180.00. The market was fairly active considering how far the cash trade is over the June Live Cattle futures. Direct sales of 104.50 and 168.00 surfaced on Tuesday. Boxed beef values continue to retreat very rapidly, down to 238.60 this morning. Slaughter cows 2.00 to 4.00 higher compared to last week, bulls mostly steady.

Slaughter lambs mostly steady, except those lambs over 150 lbs were sharply higher. Feeder lambs not well tested for comparison. Slaughter ewes mostly steady except Utility ewes 2.00 to 3.00 higher. Moderate demand for slaughter lambs, moderate to good for feeder lambs, good demand for slaughter ewes.
