Compared to last week: Slaughter steers 2.00 to 3.00 higher, heifers steady to 1.00 higher, Holstein steers steady. Good to very good demand for this offering of high quality grading steers and heifers. Packer buyers showed increased interest in buying cattle again this week, not all packers participating however, but the market was fairly active. Weighing conditions were fair, estimated dressed cost ranged from 187.00-191.00. Two way buyers were inactive as packers quickly pushed the bids higher. The higher Choice grading cattle garnered the most interest by far. CME Live Cattle futures were lower again, but this had no effect on the market at the auction. Slaughter cows and bulls steady with Monday's active market.
Slaughter lambs steady, slaughter ewes rather steady except Good 2-3 ewes 2.00 to 5.00 lower, feeder lambs not well compared as the vast majority of these lambs went to slaughter accounts. Moderate to good demand for slaughter lambs, increased demand this week for lambs under 100 lbs. Good demand for slaughter ewes, moderate demand for feeder lambs.
