Compared to last week: Yearling feeder steers steady to firm, yearling feeder heifers steady to 3.00 higher, instances of 8.00 to 10.00 higher on lighter fleshed heifers. This was the first good test for steer and heifer calves, no good comparisons available. Very good demand for this large offering of yearlings, many long strings offered in full loads and multiple load lots, including one string of nearly 1,100 heifers. Flesh condition was on the heavier side overall, moderate plus to heavy, however there were a few consignments of lighter fleshed yearlings. The market was very active on the yearlings. Moderate to good demand for steer and heifer calves. Many small consignments of calves, one large string of weaned heifer calves that sold on a very active market, not as much activity on the packages of calves. Another friendly Cattle On Feed report and rising futures contracts sure added support to the feeder market.
