Compared to last week: Feeder steers mostly 10.00 higher, except 850-1000 lbs steady. Feeder heifers steady to 5.00 higher, except 700-750 lbs and 800-850 lbs 10.00 higher. Very good demand for all weights of steers and heifers as the cash fed cattle market spiked to 245.00 in the north last week. Another day of higher Live Cattle futures helped to add to the optimistic attitudes of cattle feeders. Large strings of yearlings, including one consignment of nearly 500 head, offered in full loads and multiple load lots which allowed buyers to make uniform pens of cattle from a single source. Flesh condition mostly moderate to moderate plus, yet there were light fleshed cattle offered as well. The market was very active after many auction markets not hosting a feeder cattle auction last week and cattle feeders are looking to fill their empty pens as quickly as they can.
