Compared to last week: Feeder steers were too limited a week ago to offer a full comparison, higher undertones noted for all weights. Best comparison of heifers were those over 750 lbs, 6.00 to 8.00 higher. Very good demand for this nice offering of weaned fall born calves and backgrounded yearlings. Several long strings of yearlings, flesh condition light to moderate plus, offered in part loads, many full loads, and even multiple load lots. The market was just as active on the light cattle as it was on the yearlings. Cash fat cattle at 218.00 last week and another higher day in the cattle futures contracts continued to build optimism and enthusiasm for the coming months in the fat cattle market. Nice rains last week, and this morning, brought much needed moisture to the area. A lot of acres are now planted.
