Compared to last week: Feeder steers 600 lbs and under 2.00 to 3.00 higher, 600 lbs and over steady to 5.00 lower, feeder heifers steady to 5.00 lower, except 400 lbs - 450 lbs and 900 lbs - 950 lbs steady to 5.00 higher. Demand for this eye appealing offering of feeder cattle was good. With the beautiful weather this week, farmers are in the field getting fall work finished. Several long stings of cattle were hauled in, sorted and fed grass from Saturday until about noon on Monday when they sold. Interest in the lighter cattle was very good. The long strings of yearlings really got bidders on the edge of their seats. Price varied on the color of the hide creating gaps in price, but not as evident in some weights as if has been in the past few weeks. With higher than normal temps and lower than normal precipitation the drought continues to linger. The price of corn is continuing to climb according to CME while the feeder price is slightly lower. Slaughter cows steady to 1.00 lower. Bulls to few to make a meaningful comparison.
