Compared to last week: Steer calves under 550 lbs steady to 2.00 lower, over 550 lbs 4.00 to 8.00 lower. Heifer calves steady to 3.00 higher, except 450-500 lbs 4.00 to 5.00 lower. No comparison available for yearling heifers, few yearling steers offered. Moderate to good demand for this nice offering of high quality steer and heifer calves. There were weaned and non-weaned calves in the offering, the non-weaned calves were much greener than the weaned calves as the winter storms and cold temps have made it difficult for cattle to maintain body condition without a little supplemental energy. Several long strings offered in full loads and mulitple load lots, the market was the most active on the loads. The yearling market was very active as the cattle were green and there were plenty of buyers still wanting to place yearlings on feed. Next feeder cattle sale will be next Tues. Dec. 17, expecting about 1,200 feeders.
