Compared to last Thursday: steers 400 to 649 lbs mostly steady with instances up to 10.00 lower on 450 to 499 lbs and 600 to 649 lbs. Heifers 400 to 449 lbs mostly steady, 450 to 599 lbs10.00 to 15.00 lower with instances up to 20.00 lower. Another large calf offering this week featuring many loads and many, many packages of calves, all coming off the cow. Very good demand for load lots, good to very good demand for packages. Quality varied on packages, from plain to attractive, loads were mostly attractive in quality. Slightly more flesh overall than last week, flesh ran from light to moderate plus. The bulk of the calves had full preconditioning, those without had at least one full round of shots. An active market seen for the majority of the sale with plenty of buyers, farmer feeders, and bull breeders in the seats. Cooler, wet weather has slowed harvest and made weaning and starting calves more challenging. Next feeder cattle sale is Thursday, November 5.
