Compared to last week: best test on steer calves 550 to 599 lbs and 650 to 699 lbs 10.00 to 20.00 higher, 600 to 649 lbs mostly steady, 700 to 749 lbs 2.00 to 6.00 higher. Heifer calves not well tested last week for comparison. A much larger offering than last week with many loads and packages of home raised calves available and met with good to very good demand. A little over 500 head of calves were still coming off the cow, but these calves were attractive and green and saw no discounts. The balance of the calves were long time weaned and most had good vaccinations. Flesh condition and quality were attractive with most calves in light to moderate plus flesh, clean hided and open haired. An active market with buyers, farmer feeders and also some producers and bull breeders in the seats for some reputation replacement heifers. Windy conditions today and through the weekend with some snow possible which could impact travel and moving livestock. Bred cattle and weigh ups for next week's sale, next feeder cattle sale will be Thursday, January 29.
