Compared to last week: a very light yearling offering with no good comparisons to last week's larger offering. Best test on calves was on steers 500 to 549 lbs mostly steady. Good to very good demand for calves this week. Just a couple load lots in today's offering with the majority of calves selling in packages. Calves were mostly attractive in quality and all off the cow in mostly light flesh condition. Shot records varied quite a bit and although good, complete preconditioning has always been very important, buyers are being more selective than ever on calves without a rock solid shot record. An active market with the most activity on load lots, both buyers a few farmer feeders in the seats today. Bean harvest is progressing quickly and some corn harvest has started. Dry weather is making good harvest conditions. A much larger run of calves for the next feeder cattle sale, Thursday, October 16.
