Good demand for today's large offering with best demand seen for cattle suitable for grass or backgrounding, especially those in load lots. Most of the offering was home raised, vaccinated, and long time weaned selling in many packages and a handful of loads. Flesh varied, from light to moderate plus, with some tag on the cattle at times as the yards are really a disaster right now. A range of quality, from plain to attractive, with most variety in packages. An active market with the most of the normal crowd of buyers and a few farmers in the seats. Warmer than normal weather for the past few weeks has the area looking like spring with the frost coming out and water and mud everywhere. Fog and clouds with no sun for the last week have contributed to soft roads and muddy yards. Some cooler weather is expected for the next week but still above normal temperatures for February in SD. Next feeder cattle sale is Thursday, February 22.
