Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 10.00 to 20.00 higher. The market was red hot and fast paced for this year's special summer time BBQ sale. Demand was excellent as cash fed cattle continue to soar to new all-time record highs, 192.00 this week, which is spurring feeder cattle to all time record high prices. Cattle producers are feeling very optimistic as the fed cattle market continues to outperform the futures market, currently as much as 13.00 below the cash market. Many long strings of yearling steers and heifers offered in load lots and multiple load lots, flesh condition ranged from light grass type flesh, to heavier fleshed cattle coming out of grow yards. Quality was very attractive and the seats were full of buyers competing heavily to secure the cattle they need in order to have cattle to sell into the fall and winter months. The market was extremely active throughout the day, as final bids many times reached prices 30.00 higher than where the bidding started. Next feeder cattle sale with be Jun 15, expecting 3,000 feeder cattle.
