Compared to last week: best test on steers 950 to 999 lbs and 1050 to 1099 lbs 2.00 to 3.00 higher, 1000 to 1049 lbs mostly steady. Best test on heifers 900 to 949 lbs 3.00 to 4.00 higher. Good to very good demand for cattle coming off grass and mostly good demand for cattle out of yards. A couple long strings and packages of tested opens made up most of the grass offering, a couple short strings and individual loads made up the yard cattle. Flesh on grass cattle light to moderate, moderate to some heavy flesh on yard cattle. The market was mostly active with buyers taking multiple loads of cattle quite often, however, conditions remain dismal as the futures complex continues to fall off and outgoing fat cattle bring far less than anticipated. Some yearlings are coming off grass due to dry conditions as grass has run out. Silage harvest is heavily underway. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, September 9.
