No sale last week due to Thanksgiving, compared to two weeks ago: steers calves 450 to 499 lbs and 550 to 649 lbs 10.00 to 18.00 higher, 500 to 549 lbs and 650 to 699 lbs mostly steady, yearling steers 1000 to 1049 lbs 10.00 higher. Heifer calves 450 to 549 lbs 20.00 to 25.00 higher, yearling heifers not well compared. Good to very good demand for yearlings and calves. One long string of steers and several loads from other consignors made up a nice yearling offering. Flesh ran from moderate to heavy with quality mostly attractive. Many packages and quite a few loads of calves today. A couple weaned consignments but the majority of calves are still coming off the cow. Flesh on calves varied as some calves are getting fed a little better with their cows than others, cold weather has come and caused a little stress on these calves. Most calves had at least one full round of shots in the fall. An active market with a better attitude than before the holidays as the board has had a few more positive days to give buyers and producers a little hope again. Very cold windchills are expected for tonight and much of the area received quite a bit of snow over the holiday last week, winter is here. Special Weaned calf sale on Saturday, December 6, and regular feeder cattle sale on Wednesday, December 10.
