Compared to last week: best test on steers 750 to 799 lbs and 850 to 899 lbs 4.00 to 6.00 higher, 950 to 999 lbs 5.00 to 10.00 higher with instances up to 20.00 higher. Best test on heifers 750 to 899 lbs 2.00 higher. A very large offering for the first annual Customer Appreciation BBQ. Many, many loads and strings of finishing type cattle on offer and met with good to very good demand depending on flesh condition which ran from moderate to some heavy flesh at times. A few loads and packages of lighter cattle, many of these fall calves, were met with very good demand. The mild winter had cattle gaining well and several operations had the top cut of their grass cattle in town today as they have gotten too heavy to put on grass. Many attractive cattle to choose from throughout the day. An active market with many buyers and farmer feeders in the seats. Many opportunities to buy multiple loads of same weight cattle which buyers took advantage of quite often. There is a great deal of optimism throughout the industry again and buyers and producers want to be sure to have cattle to market for the fall season. Much of the crop is planted and some have started first cut alfalfa. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, June 11.
