Compared to two and a half weeks ago: best test on steers 550 to 599 lbs mostly steady, 600 to 699 lbs 8.00 to 12.00 higher. Best test on heifers 500 to 549 lbs 10.00 to 15.00 lower. Good to very good demand for this first calf offering of the new year. Many packages and loads to choose from, most of the calves weaned and preconditioned. Flesh varied quite a bit, from green, hay fed calves to long time weaned calves that had seen some corn. Quality mostly average to attractive with many weights to choose from today, from backgrounding and grass cattle to finishing type cattle. An active market with many buyers and a few farmer feeders attending the sale, even on a Saturday. The temperatures have turned colder but there is little to no snow in this area. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, January 8.
