Compared to last week: best test on steers 1000 to 1049 lbs steady to 2.00 higher. Best test on heifers 800 to 849 lbs steady, other weight classes of steers and heifers not well compared. Good to very good demand for loads and strings in today's offering, moderate to good demand for packages depending on quality which varied quite a bit. Quality on strings and loads mostly average to attractive. Quite a few consignments of home raised fall calves, including several load lots. Flesh varied but less flesh overall than last week. An active market seen for this offering. Buyers took advantage of strings with multiple loads of the same weight to fill pens, numbers of cattle available lessen every week and they are determined to have cattle on hand for fall marketing. A typical South Dakota summer, some areas are seeing quite a bit of rain making field work difficult, other areas are wrapping up planting and moving on to first cut alfalfa. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, June 12.
