Compared to last week: best test on steers 700 to 750 lbs steady to 3.00 lower, 751 to 800 lbs mostly steady, 801 to 950 lbs 2.00 to 4.00 lower with instances up to 8.00 lower on 850 to 900 lbs. Best test on heifers 750 to 800 lbs mostly 2.00 lower with other weight classes of heifers not well compared. Moderate to good demand for today's offering featuring loads and strings of both backgrounded and home raised cattle and many packages, including several consignments of fall calves. Similar to recent weeks, flesh varied again today, from light to heavy. A few more light fleshed cattle in today's offering than last week. Quality varied a bit more today, from plain to attractive. Several consignments in today's sale here due to dry conditions, many of these were producer's replacement heifers which come to town to try and conserve grass for the cow herd. Moderate market activity for today's offering with another positive day in corn futures putting more pressure on the market. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, April 28.
