Compared to last week: steers 600 to 800 lbs mostly steady, 801 to 1000 lbs 4.00 to 5.00 lower except 850 to 900 lbs not well tested last week for comparison. Heifers 550 to 600 lbs mostly steady, 601 to 650 lbs 2.00 to 3.00 higher, 651 to 800 lbs 2.00 to 3.00 lower except 700 to 750 lbs not well compared. Several strings and many packages made up today's feeder cattle offering. Good demand for those cattle suitable for grass programs. Moderate demand for heavier, finishing type cattle. Slightly less flesh on the cattle than last week with more moderate to moderate plus flesh today. Quality varied, but mostly average to attractive. A moderate market with good buyer attendance today. Losses on the futures market again today as well as some more wet weather is putting some pressure on the feeder cattle market. Field work in the area is just getting started and was halted by widespread rain today. Lower than normal temps have persisted the last week. Pen conditions are very wet and muddy. Next feeder cattle sale is next Wednesday, May 15.
