Compared to the much larger offering two weeks ago: Feeder steers under 900 lbs sold mostly steady, 900 lbs and over sold with higher undertones. Feeder heifers sold mostly steady. Very good demand for this very attractive offering of high quality yearling steers and heifers, as well as for the consignments of weaned fall calves. Many long strings of these yearlings, offered in full load lots and multiple load lots that allowed buyers to make uniform pens of cattle from a single outfit. The market was very active as cattle feeders are eager to own these high quality, light fleshed yearlings while they are available, as sale schedules are irregular throughout the summer. Cash fed cattle up to 197.00, keeping a 10.00 positive basis over the CME Live Cattle front month contract, which is really lending support to the feeder market. Next feeder cattle sale will be Friday July 26, 2024, the 31st Annual Summer Special.
