Compared to last week, Steers from 600 lbs to 699 lbs were generally 6.00 to 10.00 higher, steers from 700 lbs to 749 lbs were mostly 2.00 to 4.00 lower, steers from 750 lbs to 799 lbs were 6.00 to 10.00 higher, steers from 800 lbs to 849 lbs were steady to 2.00 lower: heifers from 500 lbs to 599 lbs were 8.00 to 12.00 lower. No other comparisons available. Very active market with a few less buyers in the seats when compared to last week's sale. Lots of interest and bidding on the internet. More packages and part loads this week when compared to last week. Overall quality not as good or as consistent as last week, how ever several reputation consignments offering multiple loads of one owner cattle were met with very good demand. Flesh condition ranged from thin fleshed cattle that had been running out on pasture to moderate fleshed backgrounded cattle. A few consignments of old crop yearlings were strictly a package trade. Load lots of cattle that are clean, fully preconditioned, black hided attract the most interest. Packages caring some tag are the toughest to sell. Weather in the area has been fairly mild but a change in the weather is coming next week as cold and snow are in the forecast. Next feeder sale will be Friday, February 24, 2023.
