Compared to two weeks ago: Feeder steers under 600 lbs 7.00 to 10.00 higher, instances to 15.00 higher on 450-500 lbs, over 600 lbs steady to 5.00 higher. Feeder heifers 5.00 to 10.00 higher, instances to 15.00 higher on 550-600 lbs, except 600-650 lbs steady. Very good demand for this very large offering of outstanding quality steers and heifers. Many longs strings, including full loads and multiple load lots giving buyers plenty of opportunity to make full feedyard pens, along with plenty of small consignments to piece loads together. There were many consignments of very green, hay fed cattle, that sold very easily as buyers are trying to buy cattle that will gain the most efficiently and are willing to chase the market when these types are offered. A large offering of replacement suitable heifers, the quality was very attractive, and these were met with plenty of demand but the lack of moisture is weighing heavy on the minds of producers. Grass suitable steers and heifers are a hot commodity as there is great optimism for the coming fall season as the CME Feeder Cattle contracts are nearly 30.00 higher than the current month. Next feeder cattle sale will be in two weeks, April 8, 2022.
