Compared to last week: Steer calves 10.00-20.00 higher with spots to 30.00 higher. Heifer calves steady to 5.00 higher. Demand very good. Slaughter cows 2.00-5.00 lower. Slaughter bulls 3.00 lower. Slaughter cow and bull quality consisted of mostly low dressing type cattle. Packers continue to struggle to fill orders. Demand continues to be very good for replacement cows or thin cows to return to feed. After Friday's sharp decline in cattle futures, today's futures were mixed and had little effect on the calf market, as buyers remained very aggressive for mainly steer calves.
