Compared to last week: Steers and heifers 20.00-25.00 lower. Quality very plain. As Tulsa was the big gainer last week, this was the first sale following last Tuesday's limit-down close in CME Feeder Cattle Futures, giving the market its first chance to absorb the volatility in the futures market. Today's market is very comparable to three weeks ago and despite this week's sharp drop, cattle prices remain relatively high. Slaughter cows 5.00-10.00 lower. Slaughter bulls 5.00 lower. This is the first sale where slaughter cows and bulls sold significantly lower, likely due to the end of grilling season and an increase in slaughter cattle coming to town as more producers begin culling cows and bulls before winter.
