Compared to two weeks ago, yearling steers sold 8.00 to 15.00 higher with instances 20.00 higher on 7weights. Yearling heifers sold 6.00 to 10.00 higher. First real test of the bawling calf market on Thursday with no good comparable from two weeks ago. Most of the yearlings came off summer grass and were in light to medium flesh, and should have good compensatory gains at the feedlot. Bulk of the bawlers had precondition shots and had been wormed, very few had a implant. Some of Thursday's cattle were heading to out of state for feed or will be turned out on wheat in the near future. Overall demand was good from start to finish with quite a few buyers on the seats and an active internet. Next Thursday, October 16th will be a Special Calf and Feeder sale.
