Compared to last week: Yearling feeder steers were of different weights from last week, not enough to compare, yearling heifers 2.00 to 4.00 higher. Very good demand for yearlings as the supply of true grass yearlings dwindles rapidly. The flesh condition on the yearlings was very attractive. Good demand for this first good sized offering of spring born calves. There were some long strings, including nearly full load lots of these high quality calves. Preconditioning status varied as about half of the consignments were lacking their fall booster shots. The market was active on these calves, regardless of their vaccine program as there were plenty of buyers wanting to buy these light calves. Flesh condition on calves varied from light fleshed to moderate plus. Next Thursday expecting 3,000 spring calves.
