Compared to two weeks ago: Feeder steers under 600 lbs steady to firm, 600-750 lbs 8.00 to 10.00 higher, over 750 lbs mostly steady. Feeder heifers 2.00 to 5.00 higher, except 600-700 lbs 6.00 to 10.00 higher. Very good demand for this very nice offering of high quality, light fleshed steers and heifers. The market was more active this week as the Live Cattle futures stabilized somewhat and the corn futures haven't taken off running any further from where they are at. There is great hope for the feeder cattle market for the fall marketing season, as the Feeder Cattle futures for that time are nearly 30.00 higher than the current month. Yearling operators want to make sure they are ready to capitalize on that market if the rains come and the grass grows. The flesh condition this week was very attractive overall, which really helped to make a fast, active market. As costs of gain are so high, cattle feeders are willing to chase the market to get green cattle bought when they can. Next feeder cattle sale will be in two weeks, April 7, 2022 expecting 3,500-4,000 feeder cattle.
