The Public Auction Yards held their Annual Blue Ribbon Sale today and yesterday. Demand for cows was very good and remained constant throughout the busy two day sale which had over 7300 confirmed bred, cows and heifers consigned. The stands were packed both days of the sale as ranchers come to buy cows to fill pastures after the past few years of drought. Most cows sold directly to ranchers as many sat and purchased cows for themselves. A few order buyers were present, however the vast majority of cows were purchased directly by ranchers. Many sets of cows stayed in the state as ranchers purchases cows and heifers to restock herds. Ranchers bought large volumes of cows with many willing to take the entire consignment, some multiple load lots in size! Quality was attractive to very attractive and many complete dispersions were seen. Demand for dispersions was very good as all dispersions were from reputation ranches known across the region. Offerings were heavy with 7,481 on offer and just over 7300 confirmed bred. Demand for all heifers was very good. AI bred heifers sold with the best demand but even pasture bred heifers that will calve in a large calving windows sold with good demand. Market activity was mostly active throughout the two day sale. 3rd trimester is from now through Mid March, second trimester is Mid March to Mid June, 1st trimester calve after Mid June.
