The Public Auction Yards held their Annual Blue Ribbon II Sale today. Demand for cows was very good. Buyers filled the stands as a very large crowd was on hand for the annual spring special sale. Buyers bid both ringside as well as on the internet throughout the sale. Many sets of cows stayed in the state as ranchers are restock herds. Offerings were moderate with just over 2,500 head of bred cows and heifers on offer. Quality was mostly average to very attractive. Prices for cows were sharply higher than the blue ribbon sale in Mid December as most offerings sold $400-700 per head higher. Demand for all heifers was very good. Most bred heifers sold $300.00-400.00 per head higher than the Blue Ribbon sale in early December. Market activity was mostly active throughout todays sale. 3rd trimester is from now through Mid May, second trimester is Mid May to Mid August, 1st trimester calve after Mid August.
