Compared to last week (10-21-26): Feeder cattle were all too lightly tested to develop any market trend. Todays sale mostly featured bred cows, weigh cows and bulls. A few tested open heifers were seen off bred heifer offerings. Demand was mostly moderate for limited offerings. Quality this week was mostly average to attractive. One set of heifers which had been on feed sold on very good demand as quality was mostly attractive. Market activity was active. Weigh up cows sold on mostly moderate to good demand for moderate to heavy offerings. Demand for feeding cows was good to very good and strengthened throughout the sale. American packers showed lighter demand for feeding cow this week as they let Canadian and private feeders own the bulk of the cow offering. Despite lighter demand from American packers, cows sold generally steady with many buyers sitting ringside actively bidding on offerings. Canadian buyers showed very good demand for high quality offerings. Quality this week was mostly attractive to very attractive with many long strings of high quality cows off ranches from across the state and Wyoming. A wide variety of cow quality was seen this week as many blemished cows continue to be seen. Private feeders continue to be willing to purchase lame or slightly blemished cows to feed. Slaughter cows sold generally on steady to weak on breaking cows, boning and lean cows sold steady to firm, as competition with feeding buyers pushed cows slightly higher. Weigh up conditions were mostly average today. Slaughter bulls sold mostly 2.00-3.00 higher on a higher quality offering. Young age cows suitable to feed or rebreed sold on good to very good demand today with several more buyers purchasing this class of cow this week. Young age offerings sold mostly 10.00-15.00 higher on like quality offerings. A light offering of bred cows was seen today and demand was mostly moderate to good. Quality was mostly average and not as attractive as the bred cow special two weeks ago. A few ranch tested bred cows sold today. These offerings were not retested or mouthed, but tested bred at the ranch. These cows sold per cwt and are listed in the report below as such.
