Compared to last week: Feeder cattle were not tested last week as last weeks sale featured bred cows and weigh ups. Weigh up cows sold on mixed demand for heavy offerings. Demand for feeding cows was mostly moderate to good, but demand did diminish as buyers filled loads and exited the market. Buyers remaining late in the day showed lighter demand as supplies were heavy. Feeding cows sold mostly 2.00-6.00 lower on high quality cows suitable to feed to premium white. Thin feeding cows mostly 3.00-6.00 lower. Demand for thin feeding cows was lighter this week as buyers have had seen heavy offerings over the past few weeks across the northern portion of the country. Most blemished cows were purchased by packers for immediate harvest as feeding buyers showed significantly lighter demand for blemished and thin feeding cows. Slaughter cows sold unevenly as regional packers were in the market this week buying cows for harvest. These buyers purchased their loads and exited the market. Cow prices slipped sharply lower after regional packers filled their loads. Breaking cows sold 3.00 lower to 3.00 higher, boning and lean cows sold 10.00 higher to sharply lower. Quality this week was mixed from plain to attractive with lots of variation in quality noticed. Slaughter bulls sold 5.00-8.00 lower. Young age cows suitable to feed or rebreed sold mostly 10.00-15.00 lower. Demand for young offerings was lighter this week as it is getting late in the year to set up cows up for fall calving.
