Compared to last week: All steers and heifers were too lightly tested to develop any market trend. Demand for limited offerings was moderate to good. Many sets of Fall calves were seen this week and these offerings were met with light to moderate demand. Quality today was plain to average. Market activity was mostly moderate. Weigh up cows comprised most of the sale this week. Packers showed light to moderate demand for moderate offerings. Branding season is in full swing in the northern tier of the country and many ranchers are culling cows that aren't productive or are not raising a calf. This has led to large supplies available to the packer and allowed for prices to slip. Slaughter cows sold 1.00-3.00 lower on all offerings. Feeding cows sold steady on high quality offerings, while average or older offerings sold 1.00-2.00 lower. Cow quality today was average to attractive. Slaughter bulls sold fully steady. Bull quality was mostly attractive today. Weigh up conditions were average to above average. Young age cows suitable to feed or rebreed sold fully steady. Several sets of cow calf pairs were seen today and these offerings were met with moderate demand. Quality was mostly average.
