Compared to last reported sale(8-14-19): All feeder cattle were too lightly tested last sale to develop an accurate market trend, however higher undertones were noted. Feeder cattle quality was mostly average to attractive this week with most offerings coming off grass. Most yearlings were in light flesh. Demand for yearlings was moderate on light to moderate offerings. Market activity was mostly moderate. Weigh up cows sold on mostly good demand as both packers and feeding buyers were both active in bidding on cows this sale. Feeding buyers from the corn belt are looking to western cattle as supplies are tight in the corn belt and prices are high. Packers continue to show good demand for cows for immediate harvest as they search for supplies. Cow quality this week was mostly plain to average and lower than last sale. Cows were also pushing excess fill today as temperatures reached into the 90's. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady to 2.00 higher. Feeding cows sold mostly 2.00-3.00 higher in a very narrow comparison. Slaughter bulls sold mostly 1.00-2.00 lower. Seasonally higher bull numbers have pushed bull prices down as ranchers are beginning to sell bulls after breeding season. Young age cows sold on mostly moderate demand. Young age feeding or re-breeding cows sold with higher undertones. Quality was mostly average.
