Compared to last week: Feeder cattle were too lightly tested either this week or last week to develop an accurate market trend, however steady undertones were noticed. Demand for feeder cattle was mostly moderate to good for light offerings. Quality was mostly average to attractive this week, however quality was not as attractive overall as last week. Demand for grass cattle remains mostly good. Rain is forecasted again for the end of the week which continues to support the grass cattle market. One load lot was seen today. These steers had been backgrounded, but were only moderate in flesh. Market activity this week was moderate to active. Weigh up cows sold on moderate to good demand this week. Packers showed stronger demand for cows destined for immediate harvest. Slaughter cows sold steady to 3.00 higher, with the heaviest price increase coming from poor quality, low dressing cows. Feeding cow demand was good to very good this week, as packers and independent feeders competed over offerings. More feeding buyers were seen this week which helped increase demand. Feeding cows sold generally steady. Weigh up conditions were average to above average this week. Cows continue to slick off as they are grazing on fresh green grass. Weigh up conditions continue to improve as green grass has many cows emptied out prior to selling. Slaughter bulls sold steady to 1.00 higher. Young age cows suitable to feed or rebreed sold on mostly good demand. The additional buyer seen last week was not present this week, however demand for these offerings remained similar to last week. Quality was mostly average to attractive and similar to last week. These offerings sold mostly steady to 5.00 lower.
