Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold firm to 6.00 higher, except for the 400-500 lb weight range selling 8.00-13.00 higher with the most advance on the heifers. Demand was good to very good for an offering of mostly weaned calves. Supply was moderate. There is a large jump in price between the May and August feeder cattle contracts, near $30.00/cwt, and as we draw nearer to the summer contracts, it is pushing calf prices higher. Slaughter cows sold 3.00-6.00 higher.
