Compared to the most accurate test of three weeks ago, the bulk of steers selling weighed 500-800 lbs and sold 5.00 to up to 10.00 higher while those lighter than 500 lbs and heavier than 800 lbs sold steady. Heifers sold 2.00-5.00 higher. Lots of reputation calves were offered and demand was good to very good for the vast majority of cattle but moderate in a few spots, mostly for the lighter calves under 450 lbs. Buyers were ready to get back to business and lower corn and mostly unchanged cattle futures on Wednesday gave some confidence that things weren't completely falling out of bed despite Tuesday's negative tone in the futures. Slaughter cows sold 2.00-5.00 higher when compared to two weeks ago, except for lean cows trading steady.
