Compared to last week, a lighter test of steers and heifers sold mostly 3.00-6.00 lower except for a few of the better quality yearlings trading near steady. Smaller groups and short weaned calves made up a larger portion of the offering. Demand was moderate for a light to moderate supply. Cattle futures have backed off the mid summer highs over the last few weeks and fed cattle haven't gained any ground either, giving buyers no reason to push prices higher. There were some hard weaned cattle offered, but overall the quality wasn't as attractive as the last few weeks and the short-weaned calves have a full season of health risk ahead of them. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady.
