Compared to the last reported sale two weeks ago, steers and heifers sold mostly 3.00-8.00 lower. However, there were some spots trading steady, mainly on the steers weighing 450-500 lbs. Quite a bit of movement has transpired in the cattle market since the last sale, mainly feeder futures trading lower, corn trending sharply higher and a steady to week fed cattle trade which leaves buyers wanting to purchase feeders cheaper. Demand was moderate to good, best for several lighter fleshed yearlings offered and the 450-650 lb steers. Also, a few local buyers looking to turn some calves out on grass supported the market early on. Supply was moderate and the quality was mostly attractive but flesh conditions were widely varied. Slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 higher when compared to two weeks ago. A special cow sale was held following the regular sale that included some high quality heifer pairs.
