Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold steady to 4.00 lower. Slaughter cows steady to 2.00 higher. The lower trend belied the strength of the local cash market this week. Trade was active throughout the day, particularly for the larger strings of high quality cattle on offer. A couple sets of open heifers bought for replacement highlighted the sale, sold by the head at some pretty lofty prices and proving that optimism still runs through a cattleman's blood. Supply moderate, demand moderate to good.
