Feeder heifers weighing 450-500 lbs sold steady to firm, spots 3.00 higher, with 500-600 lb heifers on a nice quality offering selling mostly 10.00 higher with 6 weight heifers steady on a light test. Demand was moderate to good on a moderate offering with the best demand and quality on the 6 weight steers and 5 weight heifers. Slaughter cows once again on a large offering sold steady to firm, spots 2.00 higher on the high dressing cows. Corn and grain prices closed sharply lower on prospect for rain across the corn-belt as July corn closed 33 cents lower and December corn 24 1/4 lower as corn prices will continue to ride on the next weather forecast as the weather trumps all market factors. Feeder cattle contracts closed sharply higher with triple-digit gains on Wednesday with corn's sharp losses.
