As filed

Compared to the sale two weeks ago, feeder steers 5.00-10.00 lower. Feeder heifers under 550 lbs 2.00-4.00 lower, over 550 lbs 6.00-8.00 lower. Slaughter cows steady. Demand moderate. Supply light. Cattle futures saw a turnaround Wednesday after huge losses Monday and Tuesday due to the fire and closure of the Tyson plant near Garden City, Ks which kills around 30.000 fed cattle weekly. It is still unclear when the plant will reopen with guesses in the 4 weeks to 2 months range. In the meantime, packer leverage which is already strong due partly to elevated numbers on feed will be greatly enhanced. At least half of this weeks expected feeder offering canceled due to the lower market.
