Sponsored by Missouri Show-Me-Select Replacement Heifers, Inc., University of Missouri Extension, Missouri Cattlemen's Association, MU College of Veterinary Medicine, Missouri Livestock Market Association, Kirksville Livestock LLC, and Missouri Department of Agriculture.
All heifers in the sale have met minimum standards for reproductive soundness, pelvic size, body condition and weight. A strict immunization program has been followed including Brucellosis calf-hood vaccination and tested negative for BVD-PI. Heifers were bred to bulls meeting strict calving ease/birth weight EPDs. Projected calving dates were given with most heifers expected to calve from early February thru mid April. All heifers were screened for blemishes, muscle, frame, body condition score (BCS) and disposition by a screening committee consisting of official graders from the Missouri Department of Agriculture and USDA, then sorted into lots according to calving dates and similar body types.
A good crowd was on hand to see the 200 heifers that sold in 59 lots. Many of the consignors were long time participants of the Show-Me-Select Heifer Program and the quality and condition of the offering was excellent. Black tends to be the dominate color for replacement stock in North Missouri, but the bidding was most active on the Red Angus and Red Angus cross cattle, and for the second year in a row it was a couple packages of red heifers that were the sale toppers. Sale average for the 200 head was 4154.00 per head, which was 952.00 per head Higher than the December 2024 sale.
