All Heifers in the sale have met minimum standards for reproductive soundness, pelvic size, body condition and weight. They have also undergone a comprehensive health program, and were guaranteed bred to easy calving bulls, with many synchronized and artificially bred. Projected calving dates were given for all lots with the heifers expected to calve from mid-January thru mid-April, with the majority due in February and March. The offering was screened for blemishes, muscle thickness, frame, body condition score (BCS), and disposition by a final screening committee comprised of official graders from the Missouri Department of Agriculture and USDA, then sorted into lots according to calving dates and body type similarity.
It was a rainy afternoon outside and a standing room only crowd on the inside, as everyone anticipated record high replacement prices to mirror the phenomenal calf and yearling market that currently exists. The bulk of the bred heifers sold from 3400.00 to 3800.00 per head with the full range being 2800.00 to 4650.00 per head. The sale average was 3599.00 per head on 99 lots. That was 895.00 per head higher than last years fall sale, and indeed did break the record average price from the 2014 sale by 391.00 which totaled 3208.00 per head.
