All heifers in sale had met minimum standards for reproductive soundness, pelvic size, body condition and weight. A strict immunization program had been followed including Brucellosis calf-hood vaccination and tested negative for PI BVD. Heifer were bred to bulls meeting strict calving ease or birth weight EPDs. Many were synchronized and artificially bred. Projected calving dates were given and all heifers pregnancy checked within 30 days of sale. The offering was screened for blemishes, muscle, frame, body condition score and disposition by a screening committee consisting of official graders from the Missouri Dept of Agriculture and USDA, then sorted into lots according to calving dates and similar body types. There were 64 percent of the heifers artificially bred and 36 percent naturally bred. Heifers in the offering were in 2nd and 3rd stage of pregnancy. Sale average for the 64 head was $1651.00 which was $240.00 less than the sale in May. The offering consisted of 12 head of Teir 2 AI bred averaging $1689.00 per head, 4 head of Teir 2 Natural bred averaging $2062.00, 29 head of Teir 1 AI bred averaging $1627.00, 19 head of Teir 1 Natural bred averaging $1576.00. The top selling lot brought $2775.00 per head.
