Sponsored by Missouri Show-Me-Select Replacement Heifers, Inc., Division of Animal Sciences, Southwest Missouri Beef Cattle Improvement Association in cooperation with University Extension, Commercial Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary Medicine, Missouri Cattlemen's Association and the Missouri Department of Agriculture. All heifers in the sale had met minimum standards for reproductive soundness, pelvic size, body condition and weight. A strict immunization program had been followed including Brucellosis calf-hood vaccination and tested negative for PI BVD. Heifers were bred to bulls meeting strict calving ease or birth weight EPDs. Many were synchronized and artificially bred. Projected calving dates were given and all heifers preg checked within 30 days of the sale. The offering was screened for blemishes, muscle, frame, body condition score, and disposition by a screening committee, consisting of official graders from the Missouri Dept of Agriculture and USDA, then sorted into lots according to calving dates and similar body types.

There was a large crowd on hand for the Show-Me-Select heifer sale at JRS. The offering consisted of 53 lots from 12 consignors and were due to calve from February 1 to April 30. The average price per head was 1731.00, which was 58.00 more than the November 2019 sale average. The top selling lot brought 2300.00 per head. The A.I. bred heifers brought 102.00 more per head than the natural bred. The heifers were 48 % A.I. bred and 52% natural bred. About 50% of the heifers were black or black white-face and about 50 % Red Angus and Crosses
