Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold steady in a light test of the market. Steer and heifer calves sold unevenly steady with few comparable drafts. Demand was good on a very light supply which was affected by the heat advisories across the area. The market was very active as buyers tried to fill trucks with the single and small drafts coming through the ring. One stick-out draft on the Video Auction was 450 head of 900 lb. mixed steers which sold for 333.75/cwt. Choice boxed beef closed at 407.20 with slaughter number lagging behind last year's volume.
